Review & Spoiler
From their first meeting by the riverbank, Luo Shaoxuan was captivated by Si Qingyu’s solitary beauty. Her sorrow compelled him to approach and comfort her, marking the beginning of their close friendship. As they spent time together drinking tea, chatting, and painting, Luo Shaoxuan’s feelings deepened beyond mere friendship.
When his mother began arranging his marriage at age 17, Luo Shaoxuan realized he could not bear the thought of being with anyone but Si Qingyu. His gaze towards her became more overt and his behavior more intimate, though she remained oblivious to his growing affection. Desperate to consummate his feelings, Luo Shaoxuan resorted to drugging Si Qingyu’s tea with an aphrodisiac. When she realized and refused to drink it, he drank it himself, knowing she would not abandon him in that state. As the drug took effect, he called out her name feverishly, overcome with desire.
This incident shattered their friendship, as Si Qingyu cut off all contact despite Luo Shaoxuan’s repeated pleas. When she moved her clinic away, he was devastated but refused to give up. He searched tirelessly until he found her again, his love undiminished. Seeing her after so long, his eyes filled with deep affection and longing. When she coldly asked why he had come, the hurt was evident in his expression. He bit his lip, aggrieved that she would question his sincerity.
Luo Shaoxuan’s emotions ran deep – he wept genuine tears at her coldness, overwhelmed with joy when she wiped them away. Her smallest gestures of compassion filled him with hope. When she helped defend him from Li Tianyang’s attack, Luo Shaoxuan was elated, taking it as a sign that she still cared for him. His noble facade crumbled, replaced by a bewildered, helpless expression as he looked at her with eyes full of longing.
Even as Si Qingyu continued to rebuff him, Luo Shaoxuan’s devotion never wavered. He declared he would marry no one but her, a hint of ruthlessness in his eyes at the thought of anyone coming between them. When she reluctantly allowed him to stay in town, he was overjoyed at the chance to be near her. Walking together on the street felt like a dream come true – he savored every moment by her side.
As time passed, Luo Shaoxuan’s love only grew more intense. He followed Si Qingyu faithfully, appearing wherever she went. His joy at each “chance” encounter was palpable as he eagerly invited her to spend time with him. Though she remained cold, he persisted tirelessly.
When Si Qingyu finally agreed to marry him, Luo Shaoxuan was overcome with bliss. On their wedding night, he trembled with nervous excitement, his love and desire evident in every touch. He cherished her completely, memorizing every detail of her face and body.
However, Luo Shaoxuan’s devotion had a possessive, obsessive edge. He grew intensely jealous of anyone who drew Si Qingyu’s attention away from him. When she left to help her village, he felt abandoned and betrayed. His emotions spiraled out of control – he refused to eat or take care of himself, wasting away as he waited desperately for her return.
Luo Shaoxuan’s love bordered on madness. Without Si Qingyu, he felt empty and purposeless. He was willing to do anything to keep her by his side, even resorting to manipulation and cruelty. When she gave him a divorce letter, he was utterly shattered. He cried inconsolably, unable to fathom a life without her.
In his darkest moments, Luo Shaoxuan’s love took on a dangerous edge. He contemplated harming himself or others, driven by the fear of losing Si Qingyu. His emotions swung wildly between desperate pleading and cold anger. Deep down, he was terrified of being abandoned and unloved.
When Si Qingyu finally returned to him, Luo Shaoxuan was overwhelmed with relief and joy. He clung to her tightly, afraid she would disappear if he let go.
Throughout all the ups and downs, Luo Shaoxuan’s core feelings never changed. Si Qingyu was his entire world. Though often expressed in unhealthy ways, the depth and intensity of his emotions were undeniable. For Luo Shaoxuan, Si Qingyu was quite literally his reason for living.
