At night, he would gaze at the moon and wonder if she was looking at the same sky. The palace that was once his sanctuary now felt empty and lifeless without her presence.

When news arrived that Liu Changning was in mortal danger, Pei Yuanshao’s world shattered. He felt as if he couldn’t breathe, his chest constricting in fear and worry. Without caring for his own safety, he rushed to her aid, determined to protect her at all costs. The thought of losing her forever was more terrifying than facing any enemy.

In the final battle, seeing Liu Changning injured and exhausted, Pei Yuanshao’s heart ached fiercely. He shielded her with his own body, willing to sacrifice himself if it meant she could live. As arrows rained down upon them, his only regret was not being able to confess his true feelings.

Transported to the chaotic realm together, Pei Yuanshao’s protective instincts went into overdrive. Despite his own fatigue and injuries, he carried Liu Changning on his back across the scorching desert, determined to find safety. With each step on the burning sand, his resolve to keep her alive grew stronger.

When Liu Changning coughed up blood, showing signs of spiritual exhaustion, Pei Yuanshao felt true fear grip his heart. The thought of her dying in his arms was unbearable. In desperation, he considered using the secret dual cultivation technique to save her, even though it went against all his principles.

As he contemplated merging his spiritual energy with Liu Changning to repair her dantian, Pei Yuanshao’s emotions were in turmoil. Part of him was terrified of such intimacy, yet another part yearned for that connection. His trembling hands as he reached to undress her revealed both his nervousness and desire.

Throughout their journey together, Pei Yuanshao’s feelings had transformed from indifference to irritation to fondness to love. He went from seeing Liu Changning as a nuisance to cherishing her as his most precious person. Though he struggled to express it openly, his actions spoke louder than words – his willingness to give up everything to protect her, his fierce jealousy towards other men, his gentle care when she was injured.

Even in moments of anger or frustration with Liu Changning, there was always an undercurrent of affection. When he lashed out, it was often born of fear of losing her or being vulnerable. His tsundere reactions – blushing furiously while denying any attraction, getting flustered by her teasing – revealed the depth of his feelings that he tried so hard to hide.
